Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has finally launched its new flagship smartphone, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in China. The company has also launched a new Leica Edition alongside the regular Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which features a physical manual camera ring for zoom—something that was missing in smartphones used by photographers and camera-centric buyers. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the fourth smartphone in the company’s 17 flagship series, which already comprises the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max.
It comes in four colour options: Cool Smoke Purple, Black, White, and Starry Green. The main highlights of this smartphone are Android 16-based HyperOS 3, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and a 6,800mAh battery.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Full Specs and Features
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with a 6.9-inch flat LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1.5K, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. The display also features Dragon Crystal Glass 3 protection.
For performance, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 16GB RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.
Coming to the camera, it sports a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50MP Light Fusion 1050L primary camera with a 1-inch sensor and OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 200MP Samsung HP-E periscope telephoto sensor. On the front, it comes with a 50MP OV50M camera for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone packs a massive 6,800mAh battery, which supports 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W wired reverse charging. The company has also included stereo speakers, a quad-mic setup, and an IR sensor in this device. It also carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition
The Leica Edition is specially introduced for photographers, as it comes with camera-specific changes and upgrades compared to the regular 17 Ultra. The main difference is the addition of a mechanical zoom ring for adjusting zoom, tweaking focal length, exposure, and white balance.
The camera module also features Leica branding at the centre, while the rear panel has a red Leica logo placed on the left corner. The company will also provide a lens cap, lanyard, magnetic case, and cleaning cloth inside the box as part of a photography kit with this smartphone.
Apart from the camera-related enhancements, it comes with identical specifications and features as the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at CNY 6,999 (around Rs 89,200) for the 12GB + 512GB storage variant. The price of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition starts at CNY 7,999 (around Rs 1.02 lakh) for the 16GB + 512GB storage variant. Both smartphones will go on sale in China starting December 27.
